Chieftains finish sixth at Division 1 tournament.
Two Utica golfers finished in the top 10 at the Division 1 state finals Saturday at the Meadows at Grand Valley State, according to mhsaa.com. Utica’s Taylor Clark tied for sixth with a 167 after rounds of 85 and 82, and Julia Montgomery was eighth with a 169 (86-83). The Chieftains finished sixth as a team with a two-day total of 749. Grosse Pointe South won the state tournament with a 692. Other players for Utica were Killian Casson (190) and Angela Hagen (223).

Chieftains' Clark, Montgomery are in the top 10 after first day of state finals.
Two Utica golfers are in the top 10 after the first day of the Division 1 state finals at Grand Valley State, according to mhsaa.com. Utica’s Taylor Clark is tied for eighth after shooting an 85, and the Chieftains’ Julia Montgomery is tied for 10th with an 86. Utica is fifth in the team competition with a score of 370. Grosse Pointe South leads the tournament at 348. Other top scorers for the Chieftains are Killian Casson (91) and Angela Hagen (108). The state finals conclude Saturday.

Chieftains finish second at Division 1 regional tournament.
The Utica golf team finished second at the Division 1 regional tournament at Twin Lakes Golf Club in Oakland Township on Thursday. With the performance, the Chieftains advanced to next week’s state finals at The Meadows at Grand Valley State. Junior Taylor Clark finished second overall and led Utica with a 77. Killian Casson shot a 79 to finish third, and Julia Montgomery shot an 81 to place fifth for the Chieftains. Angela Hagen had a 94 for Utica. Eisenhower’s season came to an end after the Eagles placed eighth. Sarah Coltman had a 95 for Eisenhower.

Utica golf rocks as a team this season and collects victories in the Lapeer Tournament and the Macomb County Golf Tournament.
Golf is traditionally an individual sport, but for the Chieftains this year it's all about the team. Utica placed second in the Macomb Area Conference Red Division and has won two of their four tournaments this year. Early in the season, they took first in the Lapeer Tournament, shooting a team low score of 335 and on Sept. 12 they won the Macomb County Golf Tournament for the third consecutive year. The team also grabbed fifth-place finishes at the Indianwood and Forest Lake tournaments. "The girls have been playing great this year and working hard as a team," Utica coach Anthony Adamo said.
