Sixty-seven years ago today, the United States and Great Britain celebrated Victory in Europe Day, marking the end of World War II in Europe. My Dad commanded an 83 foot Coast Guard cutter for anti-submarine and rescue in WWII. His boat was one of 60 sent to support the Normandy invasion. At the time his older brother was in the Army Infantry and his younger brother in the Army Air Corps, both in the European theatre.
