Macomb's Most Eligible Bachelor to Wed Shelby Township Resident

Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel announced Thursday he is engaged, according to media reports.

Macomb County's top elected official, and arguably the county's most eligible bachelor, announced Thursday he is engaged. Mark Hackel announced he is engaged to Tracie Damschroder during a meeting of the Big Four regional leaders at the North American International Auto Show, according to a report in The Macomb Daily. Hackel, 50, of Macomb Township, popped the question to the 31-year-old Shelby Township resident on Christmas morning, the paper reported. A date has not been set. Have your own nuptials planned? Viewfinder: Heritage Gardens Popular Destination for Wedding Photos, Appreciating Nature

Heritage Gardens in Shelby Township offers a scenic area to hold wedding ceremonies and take memorable photos.

Heritage Garden in Shelby Township was completed in the fall of 1975 as part of a Shelby Township Bicentennial Committee project. The 2 1/2-acre property boasts a spring-fed lake and is surrounded by ornate, wrought-iron fencing. The garden is available for rental for wedding ceremonies and/or photos each year from April  through October. Several spots throughout the garden make for wonderful photos for engaged and married couples. A large deck overlooking the lake, 10 foot gazebo, scenic pathways, and a large fountain make Heritage Gardens the perfect picture destination. Shelby Bride Wins 'Dream Wedding' at Expo

A 26-year-old Shelby Township bride-to-be who won a dream wedding package at the Palazzo Grande Bridal Show Sunday said she thinks winning the prize was an act of divine intervention.

There was a valuable lesson to be learned at the Brides-To-Be show at the Palazzo Grande Sunday: If you are registered for an amazing grand prize dream wedding, don’t leave before the drawing. Shelby Township bride-to-be Ashley Douglas was rewarded when her name was the third to be drawn for the grand prize package valuing more than $25,000. Brides had to be present to win. Douglas said her knees buckled and she burst into tears when she realized her name had been drawn. “I started jumping up and down and saying 'Oh my God!'” said Douglas.
