Shelby Township Ice Sculptor Takes Second Place in Amateur Contest at Utica Ice Fest
Macomb Community College student Mike Thomas took second place for his ice sculpture in the individual collegiate ice carving competition at the 2013 Utica Ice Festival.
A Shelby Township resident and Macomb Community College culinary arts student was one of four MCC sculptors to place in last weekend's individual collegiate ice carving competition at the Utica Ice Festival. Mike Thomas' fish sculpture won second place in the Feb. 9 competition. Other MCC students to carve their way into the top six included Justin Nellis, of Eastpointe, whose snail sculpture took sixth; Al Bock, who took fifth place for his ball sculpture; and Brad Groszkiewicz, who placed third for his sculpture, Cascading Spheres.
