On the Blog Post Are Our Children Growing Up Too Fast?

ReplyTotally agree. I'm an author as well and my readers are families with kids ages 4-9 or so. And it's interesting that my husb keeps trying to say it's for 10 year olds, but as you mention, even at 5 and 6 some have skipped past the innocence of Disney etc. which is truly heart breaking. Teaching skills a little earlier is one thing, jumping from 5 to 15 is totally unnecessary, and in my opinion, unhealthy.

ReplyJust wanted to add my voice to those who say good for you for posting this. I'm in the 40s are fabulous club too and am constantly amazed at how girls to women of almost any age have no clue what it is/used to be like to be identified as a lady. The words that come out of their mouths, the conversations they take part in, let alone what they wear, not all that long ago was looked upon as being for another kind of lady-not one most wanted to emulate. If we are old, out of touch or uncool for trying to create self-respect, and respect for others, so be it. These kinds of discussions need to happen way more often. I'm very glad to see such a positive response so far.

ReplyI was a writer and staff member for the company that produced the original My Bedbugs series. While it would have been great to be a part of the journey at this point as well, things didn't happen to work out that way. It is nice that some of the work we did lives on to an extent. Glad you enjoyed it Hope.

ReplyWe went to the New Baltimore location for the first time in June and it was excellent. There is much more than ribs and burgers. If you love the taste of smoked meat, love trying new BBQ sauces, you'll want to check them out.

ReplyWhat a great idea! Good for you for going for it! Also, you might want to visit local networking meetings to do some grass roots marketing. The Shelby Area Business Association would love to have you, and there are others who I know would love to hear about your product. Congratulations & best of luck to you!

On the article What's the Best Advice Your Father Ever Gave You?

ReplyAs the caption of the photo says, sometimes nothing was said but a lot was learned. My Dad made attending regular worship part of our lives. He didn't just tell us we had to go and then stay home. To this day, decades later, he is at church on Sunday and usually for special services too. It was also important to me that I find a spouse who felt the same way and I did.
My Dad also spent 30+ years in sales/customer service. He was always comfortable talking with people at work or just about anywhere else. While he never taught me specifically, I have some of that same ability to speak comfortably to most anyone and in groups as well.
Both of these lessons continue to serve me well in many aspects of my life. -

Nancy, so glad to hear you are okay. When I saw the headline in my Patch email, I instantly remembered meeting/teaching you about blogging. Someone in one of my Facebook groups was running that day, and thankfully, is also safe. Social media/the media can be wastes of time and space, but in cases like this, very thankful for them. Blessings.
