Shelby Man Receives Walsh College’s Lifetime Service Award

Richard E. Pearson, alumnus and trustee emeritus, earns honor.

A Shelby Township man will earn Walsh College’s Lifetime Service Award Nov. 10, the college recently announced.

Richard E. Pearson, a 1961 alumnus of the Troy business school, will receive the nod during a ceremony at the Royal Park Hotel in Rochester. The annual event pays tribute to individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and community service and also recognizes outstanding Walsh alumni.

Pearson is president and owner of REP Enterprises. He is a lifetime member of the Walsh Alumni Association and was awarded the Walsh College Distinguished Alumni Award in 1993.

One of Walsh College’s most ardent supporters, Pearson established the Pearson Endowed Scholarship Fund and created the college’s annual golf classic. His three daughters have all attended Walsh College and he has hired many graduates throughout the years.

In addition, Troy resident Peggy Dzierzawski, president of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MACPA) and Grosse Pointe resident Robert Riney, president and COO of Henry Ford Health System, will receive the prestigious Jeffery W. Barry Award for Educational Excellence & Community Service. Bloomfield Hills resident Madhava Reddy, president & CEO of HTC Global Services, will receive the Walsh College Distinguished Alumni Award.

Tickets for the dinner, which includes a silent and live auction, raffle and dessert afterglow are $250 per person. For more information contact Andrea Richards at 248-823-1204 or arichard@walshcollege.edu.
